As a Product Owner for team Spider within the Data Management department, you have the opportunity to shape products that are essential to a future-oriented, sustainable and data-driven Van Lanschot Kempen. You strategically drive the development, launch, continual support and improvement of one or more products, with an impact that reaches beyond your own team and contributes to the wider department and the organisation.
Team Spider is a DevOps team, responsible for data governance, data quality, and data modelling within Data Management, ensuring that data is consistent, well-defined, and reliable for use across the organization.
Team Spider focuses on the core data management capabilities that enable reliable data usage:
Owns and maintains the Corporate Data Model (CDM);
Drives Data Governance (policy reviews, updates of standards, participation in corporate data governance board in the role of Coordinating Data Steward);
Develops and maintains the Data Quality framework for Data Warehouses within Data management and the Strada Foundation;
Defines and supports metadata management (e.g. our metadata management tool called Data Empress);
Ensures data is consistent, well-defined, and usable across teams
Team Spider works together on their team day in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Wednesday) and also together with the stakeholders in Amsterdam. For Product Owners, once a month a day in ‘s-Hertogenbosch is organised on a Monday to encourage collaboration.
As Product Owner, you define and continuously refine the product vision, strategy and roadmap, making clear choices that maximise value for users, stakeholders and the organisation. You systematically study target users and their requirements, translate insights into realistic product contexts and backlog priorities, and ensure that your team delivers measurable outcomes and strong product adoption.
In this role, you work closely with stakeholders, specialists, other Product Owners and teams across the department and beyond. You proactively align roadmaps, manage interdependencies and contribute to a coherent domain strategy. Therefore, you play a key role in increasing the data management maturity and capabilities of the entire organisation within VLK. You are able to challenge business decisions and initiatives in a constructive way, while switching communication styles to bring different audiences along in your thinking.
You also play an important role in strengthening product ownership within the department. You share your in-depth domain knowledge, apply tools such as story mapping, roadmaps and vision boards, and stimulate experimentation, innovation and continuous learning. By leading by example and actively giving and receiving feedback, you help others grow and maximise their contribution to the product goal.
Are you ready to combine strategic product leadership, analytical thinking and strong collaboration to create products that make a real difference for our users and our organisation? If so, this is the perfect role for you!
