Investment Management Traineeship

The Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management traineeship offers two young professional the opportunity to explore every aspect of Investment Management, starting September 2025 for a period of 16 months.

Within this traineeship, you will rotate between departments on a four-month basis. The departments which are part of this traineeship are:

Wholesale & Investment Strategies: consists of the wholesale sales team, the investment teams (Credits, Dividend, Small Caps, Real Assets, Listed Infrastructure & Private Markets) and the trading desk;

Institutional Advisory & Specialists: responsible for fiduciary management and investment solutions for pension funds and insurance companies, including liquid and illiquid manager research & monitoring;

Private Clients Solutions & Specialists: responsible for the VLK default propositions and tailored portfolio solutions for private clients and semi-institutional clients. Also the Investment Strategy Research & Tactical Asset Allocation team are part of this department;

Project Management Office: responsible for the coordination of a broad range of projects related to the development of solutions and products

During the traineeship, you will be supported by a mentor and a buddy and follow a training program for both personal and professional development. The traineeship is a bespoke process allowing each step to be planned in close consultation with you, whereby your personal and professional growth is key.

After the 16 months, you will have a good impression of the opportunities and possibilities within the investment management, leading to a discussion on which career path is the best match with you here at Van Lanschot Kempen.

Your talents

Affinity with finance and investing, curious, ambitious, and ready for a challenge. This is how we can best describe you as an Investment Management trainee. Talents that you use to guide our customers in a constantly changing world every day. By thinking out of the box and asking questions. Our ideal candidate is someone who wants to start their career in investment management and open to various areas of investment management, not set on a specific team. You also have:

  • Completed a Master’s degree in the field of Finance, Business Administration, Econometrics, Economics, or other relevant field. Even if you have a Master’s in a field not mentioned, the key is your affinity with finance
  • Max. 2 years of work experience after your studies
  • Relevant extracurricular activities or past work experience
  • Good mastery of English, both oral and written.
