Internal Control Officer

As a Control Officer in the Internal Control team, you primarily contribute to risk management with regard to all our outsourcing activities and you also provide support to our colleague at Mercier Van Lanschot in Belgium. You also keep an open mind on risk management within other parts of the Van Lanschot Kempen organization, because our activities in Belgium, but also our outsourcing activities, have many dependencies with other processes within other parts of the bank. You have knowledge and experience with regard to risk management within a financial institution. You are also partly responsible for monitoring the risks that arise from this. You use the various risk instruments, such as control testing, action and incident management or risk analysis, to support management in the area of their risk management. All this leads to robust and efficient processes within Mercier Van Lanschot, as well as with regard to all outsourcing activities and that an in control statement can be signed by management at the end of the year.

 

As a Control Officer you are involved in:

  • Performing (key) control test activities.
  • Contributing to the creation of risk management reports.
  • Handling incidents and performing 'root cause' analyses.
  • Monitoring the follow-up of action management.
  • Facilitating Risk and Control (self) assessments.
  • Setting up and maintaining the control framework.
  • Participating in projects.
  • Contributing to increasing risk awareness among employees.

Team player, socially skilled, strong communicator, able to convince and collaborate. That is the best way to describe you as a Control Officer. Talents that you use to guide our customers through a continuously changing world every day. By thinking outside the box and asking questions. With a drive and healthy ambition, you want to understand the business and supporting IT processes and deliver added value. From curiosity, you assess the risks within your field, but you also assess the impact of developments in other areas of interest (value chain approach). Given the international character of Van Lanschot Kempen, a good command of English is desirable.

You are/have:

  • At least an HBO thinking and working level with demonstrable experience in an economic/financial direction.
  • At least 3 years of work experience as a Control Officer or Operational Risk officer.
  • A hands-on and pro-active attitude.
  • A full-fledged discussion partner for senior management, colleagues from Compliance, Non-Financial Risk Management and Internal Audit.
  • Demonstrable affinity with financial processes, applications and procedures,
  • Accurate, critical and steadfast.
  • A real team player who can also operate independently.
  • From the 1st Line of Defence have an eye for the risk issues from the business.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language.

Internal Control consists of a manager and 21 control officers. All activities related to safeguarding risk management within various parts of Van Lanschot Kempen are carried out within Internal Control.
