Team lead Operational Risk Manager

Then we would like to talk to you about the role of Team Lead Operational Risk Manager (ORM) at Van Lanschot Kempen. In this challenging role, you work together with a team of 6 ORM colleagues with a mixed level of experience, to support the Van Lanschot Kempen organisation in managing the Operational Risks from a second line perspective. Together with the Team Lead Information Risk Manager and the Managing Director Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM), you are a member of the MT of NFRM.

You proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of the non-financial risk framework within Van Lanschot Kempen as a whole, including risk management instruments and reports.

Furthermore, you:

  • Coach and support the ORM (team) in your daily work. Ensure realisation of year plan, including change initiatives. Create and maintain team planning and list of deliverables throughout the year. Lead others to solve complex problems and taking a broad perspective to identify solutions. You can replace Head of NFRM in her absence.
  • Help keep all Non-financial Risk instruments up to date and identify and implement changes needed to have these evolve with the growth and needs of the Van Lanschot Kempen organisation. You update policies, and work together with our Compliance, Financial Risk and Internal Control departments to have a consistent execution of our risk instruments. You perform the second line activities on these instruments, like root cause analysis, (project) risk (self) assessments, (key) control monitoring and risk scenario analysis.
  • Together with the other NFRM colleagues have contact with (senior) business management regarding operational risk developments in their attention areas.

Talents that you use to guide our business every day through a continuously changing world and to support the ORM team and the NFRM department in growing further together. Additionally, you:

  • Have at least 8 years of relevant experience in Operational Risk Management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively and drive results with a strong focus on teamwork (within NFRM and with key stakeholders in Internal Control, Financial Risk Management & Compliance),
  • Thoroughly understand all aspects of Operational Risk Management and are able to act as sparring partner for key stakeholders, including Managing Director of NFRM.
  • Act as trusted advisor for business management and levering knowledge and communication skills. You share risk management related ideas and build relationships with senior management (up to Management Board level) and regulatory authorities.
  • Have good knowledge of banking and asset management sector, including international developments and regulatory context.
  • Regularly raise awareness of company goals
    Interpret internal/external issues and developments and recommend solutions and best practices to improve products, processes or services
  • (Technical) knowledge of Bwise and/or GRC tooling is a plus.

The team works from Amsterdam and consists of a manager and twelve operational and IT risk specialists. Together they contribute to keeping the organisation 'in control' and facilitating risk-based decision-making in various areas within Van Lanschot Kempen.
