Investment Management Traineeship

The Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management traineeship offers two young professionals the opportunity to explore every aspect of Investment Management, starting May 2026 for a period of 16 months.

Within this traineeship, you will rotate between departments on a four-month basis. The departments which are part of this traineeship are:

Wholesale & Investment Strategies: consists of the wholesale sales team, the investment teams (Credits, Dividend, Small Caps, Real Estate, Listed Infrastructure, Farmland & Private Markets), and the trading desk;

Institutional Advisory & Specialists: responsible for fiduciary management and investment solutions for pension funds and insurance companies, including research and monitoring of both liquid and illiquid managers;

Private Clients Solutions & Specialists: responsible for the Van Lanschot Kempen default propositions and tailor-made portfolio solutions for private clients and semi-institutional clients. The Investment Strategy Research & Tactical Asset Allocation team is also part of this department;

Project Management Office: responsible for the coordination of a broad range of projects related to the development of solutions and products.

During the traineeship, you will be supported by a mentor and a buddy and follow a training program for both personal and professional development. The traineeship is a bespoke process allowing each step to be planned in  consultation with you, whereby your personal and professional growth is key.

After the 16 months, you will have a good impression of the opportunities and possibilities within the investment management, leading to a discussion which career path is the best match with you here at Van Lanschot Kempen.

Your talents

Affinity with finance and investing, curious, ambitious, and ready for a challenge. This is how we can best describe you as an Investment Management trainee. Talents that you use to guide our customers in a constantly changing world every day. By thinking out of the box and asking questions. Our ideal candidate is someone who wishes to start their career in Investment Management and is open to exploring various facets of the discipline, rather than being fixed on a specific team. You also have:

  • A completed master’s degree in finance, business administration, econometrics, economics, or another relevant field. If your master’s degree is in a different area, you have a demonstrable affinity with finance;
  • A maximum of 2 years of work experience following graduation;
  • Relevant extracurricular activities or previous internship experience;
  • Good mastery of English, both oral and written.

  • A gross monthly salary of €4,425 based on a 40-hour workweek;
  • In addition to the base salary, a flexible choice budget of 19.47% of your gross salary (including a 13th month, 8% holiday allowance, and 7 extra above-statutory leave days). You can use this budget, for example, for a (lease) bicycle, gym membership, or to save for a sabbatical. Alternatively, you may choose to have the full budget paid out at any time during the year;
